Naoki Yoshida director of Final Fantasy XIV was recently interviewed at a fan festival in Paris France. During the interview he was asked some questions about Nobuo Uematsu composing the theme song for Shadowbringers and what he feels as a director is needed for the future of the main FF series following FF15. Yoshida responded that he feels like Final Fantasy needs to be more fantasy and less futuristic.

This is yet another response from someone at Square Enix that FF16 should be more of a classic fantasy FF game. There is still speculation that Hiroyuki Ito director of FF6, FF9 and FF12 may be put in charge of development for FF16.
