Due to a recent European legislation, Square Enix has decided to pull a number of their free to play mobile titles from Belgium by December 19th. Belgium recently passed a law where games with gambling or loot box mechanics which are found frequently in free to play games may face fines of up to almost $1 Million Dollars if they do not have the proper gambling licenses and must be registered as such.

So Square Enix pulled Mobius Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts Union X and Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia from their respective Belgium digital marketplace stores.

Apparently Australia and other countries may be next in passing laws to prevent free to play features in games as well for not being classified as gambling.
