So during a recent Square Enix livestream, Hajime Tabata director of Final Fantasy XV gave a statement and it came as a shock to fans of his games. He announced he would be resigning from his position at Square Enix to pursue a solo career starting this own business. This statement was given shortly after an announcement from Square Enix that stated they lost about $33 million dollars due to Luminous Productions. So Tabata thanked the fans for all the support and apologized that because of this the remaining FFXV DLC episodes that were planned for a 2019 release were cancelled. Only one DLC episode for Ardyn will still be releasing since it has already been completed.

So this is quite a strange turn of events. Feels almost like Hironobu Sakaguchi when he left Square due to the failure of Final Fantasy The Spirits Within movie and ended up creating his own company. Hopefully Tabata continues to make games following his resignation.
