Hajime Tabata the director of Final Fantasy XV was recently interviewed by Game Revolution at TGS 2017 and was asked numerous interesting questions regarding the Final Fantasy games and the future of the series. One of the questions he was asked during this interview was if he would take over the Final Fantay VII Remake project if Square Enix offered him the position of director.

Tabata flat out said no and then gave an explanation how he would not feel comfortable remaking one of the most important Final Fantasy games and how it would be a lot of pressure to make sure you create something that will please all the fans. Instead, Tabata brought up how he would prefer making brand new games within the Final Fantasy VII universe like he did in the past with Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII or other similar prequel or spinoff games. He even jokingly brought up Final Fantasy VII-2 which was met with a lot of laughs during the interview.

This is just a snippet of the full interview which is going to be available on Game Revolution later this month.
